Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the security and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

He gave this assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko, Niger State.

The Governor also assured the NYSC management that his administration remains committed to providing a conducive environment for the scheme to thrive.

He acknowledged the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting national unity and integration, pledging to ensure the safety and well-being of corps members.

“I urge all corps members to take advantage of the numerous NYSC programs to acquire the requisite skills,” he said.

Bago emphasized that the NYSC remains a vital tool for fostering national unity and integrity, with corps members playing a significant role in the country’s developmental strides.

He advised corps members to be disciplined and make the most of the opportunities provided by the NYSC, noting that the skills acquired would be beneficial throughout their lives.

Bago also appreciated the efforts of the NYSC management, security agencies, and other officials in ensuring the success of each orientation course.

Earlier in her address, the NYSC Coordinator in Niger State, Mrs. Abdulwahab Olayinka, highlighted the significance of the NYSC program in promoting national unity and integration.

She commended the corps members for their patriotic spirit and willingness to participate in the orientation exercise.

Olayinka stated that the orientation course was designed to familiarize corps members with the scheme’s objectives and prepare them for the expectations of the service year.

She emphasized that the NYSC program aims to promote integration and unity among corps members from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.

She encouraged corps members to use the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the country and foster values of friendship, peace, and harmony.
