Nigerian-American, Dr Kayode Abegunde, has been recognised for his contributions to the development of politics and community development as he was honoured by NICCEA Awards with the North America Diaspora Political and Community Service Award.
The award was bestowed on Abegunde, a US politician at the Nigerian Canadian Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada, last weekend.
The event, in its seventh edition, was held at Royal King Event Centre, Ontario, Canada and put together by Starboard Entertainment, under the leadership of its chairman, a Nollywood actor, Temidayo Enitan popularly known as Starboy. It had in attendance array of stars in the Nigerian entertainment industry, who are based in Nigeria and diaspora.
Speaking on the recognition, Abegunde, an accountant, Newcastle County Financial Advisory Board member, consultant and global philantropist, said the award is a propeller for more commitment to do more for the promotion of quality politics, development of the entertainment industry both in Nigeria and diaspora and doing more of community service.

He said:”I feel honoured and motivated with this prestigeous award bestowed on me. I see it as a call to be more committed to contributing my quota to the development of politics both in Nigeria and the entire North America amplifying the Nigerian entertainment sector and doing a lot to contribute to the growth of our communities.”
He commended the organiser of the award, Mr. Temidayo Enitan, for his tireless efforts at putting the Nigerian entertainment industry on the global scene, while urging him not to relent, but rather raise the bar.
