Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke says given the opportunity, the engineers and technicians in the maintenance department of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) can fix the ailing Nigeria refineries in 90 days.
This is coming following the lingering back and forth over the maintenance and non-functioning of Nigeria refineries as well as the fuel crisis in recent times.
He averred that the typical maintenance techniques of refinery included cleaning, inspection, lubrication, testing, replacing, and/or repairing components which NNPCL engineers and technicians can handle effectively if given the opportunity.
Onuesoke, who made the disclosure in his X handle, formerly twitter, maintained that Nigerian engineers and technicians in the NNPCL maintenance department can fix the ailing refineries.
He added that all the Federal Government needed to do was to import the plan, the DP unit, the crack unit and financial support.
“The engineers and technicians in the maintenance department of NNPCL can fix the refineries if they are provided the wherewithal.
“If they are provided with the equipment they wanted instead of this grammar of Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) which they are spending billions of Naira on annually without result,” he stated.
The former governorship aspirant, who disclosed that Nigerian engineers and technicians are among the best brains in the world, assured that they are capable of fixing the ailing refineries without spending the billions of Naira as being experienced in past years.
According to him, “Nigeria has the best brains in the world. The Nigerian engineers and technicians are among the best brains in the world. They can fix our refineries.
“The Federal Government should invite the engineers and technicians community of the refineries, give them an ultimatum, provide them the wherewithal, the equipment and the tools they want to import as replacement they can fix it in 90 days.
“Just imagine the Warri refinery has been shut down since 2019, Kaduna refinery is about twenty years now, while that of Port Harcourt was shut down around 2017.
“NNPCL and With my observation, Nigeria engineers and technicians in NNPCL are idols.
‘Give them a task to fix the refinery and they will perform. They are capable of fixing the refineries if they are provided the infrastructures, the equipment, the means.”
