The Imam of Al-Habibiyah Islamic Centre (AIC), Abuja, Fuad Adeyemi and the Founder/Chief Executive of Connected Development (CODE), Hamza Lawal have urged Nigerians to reconnect with Allah, trust and pray to Him as He (Allah) is the Only One that can change the situation of things.

Adeyemi and Lawal made the call recently in Abuja during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration which was marked early in the week.

Speaking with Tribune Online, the duo said the economic situation no doubt call for urgent measures from the government, they nonetheless called on the citizens to give the government all the needed support, put their trust in Allah and have the belief that things will turn out for the best very soon.

“This is the time we should be connected with our God. We should reestablish relationship with our people and think of helping other people because (Sallah) is all about sharing, caring and about compassion.

“Obedience leads to success. It is not every time that things are rosy as expected. Islam has provided an inbuilt system and all you need to do is to trust in Allah, believe in Allah and pray to Him and work hard and believe that things will be alright. It’s not for a Muslim to sit down and be complaining or that government is not doing anything.

“No government can make anybody rich. Nobody can make you to prosper but only Almighty Allah based on what you do. We should not forget to seek for forgiveness and to work hard,” Adeyemi stated.

“It is a call for reflection. One is to have faith. Faith in our religion most importantly in this difficult time. This is not the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is the government of the Nigerian people and if we have faith in that government, we will make sure that the government succeeds for each and everyone of us.

“Second is sacrifice. And I think for us to get it right in Nigeria, we need sacrifice. It will get difficult before it gets easy. But I think that our leaders must show that they are also willing to sacrifice and communicate the sacrifices they are making so that Nigerian people will join them to retrieve back the country.

“We all know that the economic situation is turbulent and no one is currently happy. And that is why I said we must have faith but we must also sacrifice and be transparent in what we do as people and most importantly as government,” Lawal told Tribune Online.

In Islamic tradition, it (Eid-el-Kabir) honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.
