Labirikusi Ruling House, Eruwa has insisted that no deadline is set for the presentation of family head before the leadership of the Local government authority in the 1957 Eruwa Chieftaincy Declaration.
This was the submission of the family at the presentation of its head, Pa Dejo Akinlade through a written document to the Chairman of Ibarapa East local government area, Hon. Kareem Arogungade on Monday.
The letter was received on behalf of the Chairman by his Personal Assistant, Lukman Akintola
Pa Akinlade insisted that no deadline is set for the presentation of the family head as being insinuated in some quarters.
He said the family has met all the necessary conditions as set by the Declaration to fast track the selection of the new Eleruwa
According to him, ‘With the appointment of the Family Head, the letter is expected to be forwarded to the Ministry of the local government and Chieftaincy Matters for approval.
“After the approval of the Letter, the family will be instructed to send the names of the candidates that will be screened for the position of Eleruwa.
“The Family Head will be instructed to convene an enlarge meeting of the entire family for the selection of the candidates.
This can only be done after the appointment of the Family Head which has been resolved by the Family.
The issue of 14 days can only come up after the selection of the Family Head.
It is even a thing of surprise that the issue of the Family Head is being raised when the Family has not submitted the name of its Head
“Two families, Akalako and Labirikusi are the two families as stipulated in the declaration that are entitled to the throne.
“The immediate past Eleruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola was dethroned by the Supreme Court ruling of 2019.
Also speaking, the Secretary of Laribikusi, Prince Ijaola Adeseun on the alleged expiration 14-day ultimatum given to the family to present the family head, denied the allegation noting that the chairman specifically picked 16thJanuary, 2025 for another meeting to give room for transparency in the appointment of the family head.
The family, therefore, appealed to the Governor Seyi Makinde’ to ensure that there is transparency in the selection of the new Eleruwa of Eruwaland.
