The Ondo State chapter of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), on Tuesday, denied plans to collapse its structure for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the November governorship election.
The ZLP who maintained its commitment to participate in the governorship election in the state, said it was working hard towards winning the election and said the party is on the verge of winning the next governorship election in the state.
Speaking, the state chairman of the party, Cornelius Akintoye, said the party was still in the race and had no plan to merge with any political party ahead of the governorship election.
Akintoye said the attention of the party was drawn to the media report of the plan of the ZLP leadership to collapse structures with the PDP.
He said “I am the State Chairman of the Zenith Labor Party in Ondo State, I would like to provide an update as we prepare to participate in the upcoming election. We are fully engaged and moving forward with our campaign.
“However, it has come to our attention that certain individuals are falsely claiming affiliation with our party and may be accepting funds from PDP or APC. Please note, these individuals are not members of our organization and do not represent us.”
Also speaking, the candidate of the party, Dr Abass Mimiko, denied the merger plan with the PDP or any other parties participating in the elction, saying, ” No Way! Never! We are going to win the election, Insha Allah! ”
