The North-East Zonal Leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reiterated its total loyalty to Engr. Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the national leader of the party.
The declaration was contained in a communiqué titled ‘RE: Response to Misinformation by Expelled Former Members’, issued at the end of a strategic consultative meeting of the NNPP leadership in the North-East zone, comprising Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, and Bauchi States, under the leadership of the Zonal Vice Chairman, Hon. Sabo Imam Gashuwa.
The communiqué was signed by Dr Abdullahi M.A (Walee), Chairman NNPP Gombe State; Alh. Bamanga Tukur Sali Mubi, Chairman NNPP Adamawa State; Barr. Mustapha Mohammed, Chairman NNPP Borno State; Hon. Y.M Shehu Damagum, Chairman NNPP Yobe State; Abubakar Naibi Bala, Chairman NNPP Taraba State; and Hon. Abdullahi Ali Muhammad, Chairman NNPP Bauchi State.
In the communiqué, they stated: “We reaffirm our total and unshakable loyalty to our national leader, Engr. Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose vision and steadfast leadership continue to guide the NNPP across the nation.”
They added: “We also pledge our commitment to the National Chairman, Dr Ajuji Ahmed, as duly recognised by INEC and in accordance with the party’s constitution.”
They further expressed their support for the National Secretariat’s clarification on the FCT judgment, stating: “We stand in full alignment with the recent press release of the NNPP National Secretariat dated 3rd April 2025, regarding the ruling of the FCT High Court.”
According to them: “The decision of Justice M.A. Hassan to decline jurisdiction did not in any way invalidate the existing Federal High Court judgment of 18th April 2024, which upheld the expulsion of Boniface Aniebonam, Major Agbo, Olaposi Oginni, and others.”
On the condemnation of misleading narratives by expelled persons, they declared: “We strongly condemn the deliberate and shameless attempt by these expelled individuals to twist the ruling and misinform the public. Their activities are not only misleading but a clear ploy to confuse party members and distort public perception.”
Regarding INEC recognition and legal backing of the current NWC, they stated: “We reaffirm that the current leadership of NNPP, as registered with INEC, remains the only legitimate authority of the party.”
“By virtue of Section 222(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 81 and 83 of the Electoral Act 2022, only records duly filed with INEC are recognised. The names and actions of the expelled members are not recorded nor acknowledged by INEC, as affirmed in court,” they added.
On the call for unity and discipline in the North-East Zone, they urged all NNPP members in the North-East to remain disciplined, united, and focused, stressing: “Our zone continues to grow stronger and gain public support, and we will not allow distractions or sponsored propaganda to derail our progress.”
They emphasised their unshaken commitment to party integrity and pledged to defend the NNPP at all levels, remaining resolute in advancing the ideals of internal democracy, transparency, and grassroots mobilisation, stating: “No attempt to hijack or destabilise the party will succeed under our watch.”
The North-East Zonal Leadership assured teeming supporters that the NNPP remains united and under one leadership, led nationally by Engr. Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“We urge the public to disregard the antics of expelled individuals and continue supporting the party as we work together for a better Nigeria,” they concluded.
