The Nigeria Muslim League Group (NIMUL) has vehemently opposed the circulating rumors about the potential appointment of Daniel Bwala as spokesperson for President Tinubu.

In a statement released to the press in Sokoto on Sunday, Professor Mika’il Jibrin, the group’s spokesperson, emphasized that while President Tinubu has the authority to appoint anyone, the group strongly protests Bwala’s potential appointment.

Bwala, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, has openly criticized President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima’s Muslim/Muslim ticket ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

According to the statement, “NIMUL cannot trust Bwala in a position where he would be privy to critical issues that could make or mar Nigeria as a country”

The group cited the example of Ajuri Ngelale, who faced challenges for defending Tinubu’s government, and questions how someone who has championed a campaign of calumny can be brought into such a sensitive position.

“President Tinubu should understand that Nigerian Muslims appreciate respect and trust from the Presidency, and therefore, NIMUL advises the President to look for other individuals worthy of trust.

“Bwala is an opportunist trying to destroy what he did not build, and NIMUL urges the President to choose a person with proven integrity.

“We pray that President Tinubu will reconsider this appointment and choose someone who has not engaged in issues that could create tension and political crisis.

“We believes that this appointment could undermine the unity and political cohesion of the country, and therefore, urges caution”

The group reiterated its commitment to the peace and tranquility of Nigeria and advised the President to prioritize these values in his appointments.

NIMUL called on all Nigerians to join them in rejecting this appointment and urging President Tinubu to make a more informed decision.
