The National Population Commission (NPC) has launched the 2023/2024 Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) in Ondo state.
The Chairman National Population Commission, Hon Nasir Isa Kwarra, who disclosed this in Akure, Ondo state capital, said the survey is to provide invaluable insights that inform evidence-based policies.
Kwarra who was represented by the state State Director, Tubosun Falusi, said the survey will also enhance public health interventions, and contribute to the broader development agenda of the country.
According to him, the data collected and analyzed will not merely be numerical values but will represent the health, aspirations, and challenges of communities across the state.
He stated that the National Population Commission, in collaboration with key partners, provides technical expertise through the ICF International.
He said “for over three decades, the National Population Commission has spearheaded the implementation of the NDHS, in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, and key partners.
“This survey has been instrumental in providing invaluable insights that inform evidence-based policies, enhance public health interventions, and contribute to the broader development agenda of our nation.
Together, we have elevated this survey from a research initiative to a cornerstone of dependable demographic and health metrics for Nigeria.
“As we all know, the data we collect and analyze will not merely be numerical values; they will represent the health, aspirations, and challenges of our communities.
“As such, each one of us here, from researchers to administrators and policymakers, holds a critical role in ensuring the success of this survey.”
He said personnel involved in the survey included the interviewers, bar marketers and drivers, saying out of the 37 clusters in the state the team had completed two clusters in Akure south local government areas of the state.
He said the NPC had moved around to orientate the people about the survey while jingles and handbills had been churned out with visits to traditional rulers’ palaces and other stakeholders.
