The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the arrest of a group of Nigeriens who participated in vandalizing government public property during the nationwide protest that caused mayhem in the state.
The command also stated that it has arrested 108 suspects allegedly involved in vandalizing government and public properties during the protests in the state.
The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, revealed that the suspects were apprehended at different locations in the metropolis and they were paraded on Saturday.
This was made possible because of credible intelligence from men of the NSCDC’s intelligence and investigation departments with various items found in their possession.
He, however, added that some of the suspects were from neighbouring states while some are Nigeriens.
According to him, the suspects allegedly vandalised and looted facilities at the soon-to-be inaugurated Digital Industrial Park, belonging to the Nigerian Communication Communication, (NCC).
Among, the items recovered from them are KCD TVs, executive chairs, door and window frames as well as drawers
Other items also recovered are State Road dual carriageway iron demarcating shields and a 50 KVA Mikano Generator for streetlight at Dorayi Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area.
He then added that the suspects would be charged in Court upon the completion of the investigation.
