The Kano State operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have confirmed the arrest of 32 people, mostly youths after they broke into shops and looted goods following today’s protest, which was hijacked by miscreants in the state.

This was contained in a statement by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the NSCDC Kano Command Public Relations Officer.

Abdullahi said the arrests were made by personnel of the Corps’ Fagge Divisional Office, Kano Command.

Abdullahi disclosed that the suspects were arrested in areas around Sabon Gari, Bata, France Road, and Murtala Mohammed Way.

He added that properties worth thousands of naira have been successfully recovered from them.

Furthermore, he stated that some recovered items, seized from hoodlums by operatives of the NSCDC with the assistance of good Samaritans at Gyadi Gyadi, Kano, are in the custody of the Corps.

Abdullahi alleged that these properties might have been stolen by miscreants during today’s protest at State Road and Iyaka Road in the municipality.

He hinted that an investigation into the case has begun, and once completed, legal action will be taken.
