The Zamfara State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned saboteurs of government efforts to desist as the corps arrested two suspects for alleged diversion of therapeutic food in the state.
The suspects were arrested with ready-to-use therapeutic food meant for Zamfara state health facilities.
Parading the suspects on Monday evening at the state command headquarters of NSCDC in Gusau, the state capital, commandant Sani Mustafa represented by public relations officer Sc Ikor Oche disclosed that another suspect was arrested for causing grievous hurt to his son that led to his death.
“Saboteurs are hereby warned, who are bent on truncating and frustrating government efforts towards the good people of Zamfara State, it will be no longer business as usual as the Corps under state commandant Sani Mustafa’s administrative purview is poised to deal decisively, using the extant laws of the Federation with anyone found culpable of such offence,” he warned.

He stated that the two suspects conspired and diverted ‘Ready to Use Therapeutic Food ‘ meant for the Villashi Health Care facility at Birnin Magaji area in the state.
“The State Commandant averred that, One Aliyu Labo (M) 63 years who is a driver, connived with one Abdullahi Suleiman (M) 45 Years, a nutritional Officer with Birnin Magaji Local Government Area to divert about 33 cartons of the RUTF to the resident of the said driver Aliyu Labo, who was originally asked to convey the products to Birnin Magaji Local Government Area on the 6th March 2024.
“The Corps acting on intelligence, tracked these diverted products to the home residence of the said suspect, Aliyu Labo where about 33 sealed cartons and 14 empty cartons of the RUTF were found inside one of his rooms.
“These 33 sealed cartons and 14 empty cartons were exhibits recovered from the scene of search.
“The action of the duo contravenes sections 61, 309 and 315 of the ZPC Law number 18, 2024 in the Administration of Criminal Justice Laws. In line with the above, the suspects will be arraigned before a competent court of jurisdiction at the end of the investigations,” he said.
The State Commandant, Sani Mustapha also paraded a suspect by name Alh. Yahaya Mairake(M) 60 years was alleged to have voluntarily given his Son Muazu Yahaya (M) 18 years to some Hoodlums for disciplinary purposes thereby causing grievous hurt which eventually led to the death of the son Muazu Yahaya.
“His actions contradict section 221 of ZPC laws Number 18 2024 in the Administration of the Criminal Justice Laws.”
He further said that the suspects would be arraigned before a competent court of jurisdiction after the investigations in the state.
Commandant Sani Mustapha warned parents to be mindful of the kind of discipline meted out on their wards to avoid such unfortunate incidents in the state.
