The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to apprehending suspected criminal elements responsible for the vandalisation of critical infrastructure across the state.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Commandant Joachin Okafor, stated this at a recent Press briefing with the newsmen in his office at the State Headquarters of the Command, off David Mark Road in Minna, the state capital.
He emphasised the urgent directive of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi to intensify security surveillance on national assets across the State in a resolute stance against criminal elements targeting vital critical national assets.
He stated further that the anti-vandals unit of the Command, acting on intelligence received Intelligence on July 13, 2024, and uncovered vandalised high-tension aluminium cables, metres, and railway tracks within a compound along Eastern Bye Pass in Minna.

The Corps Commandant in the state noted that this destructive activity occured even as the federal government strives to restore the railway system and ensure uninterrupted electricity distribution across the Country.
Commandant Okafor however attributed these criminal acts as “total economic sabotage” and assured of the Command’s relentless efforts to apprehend the suspected criminal elements.
Accordingly, the commandant expressed appreciation to the State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for providing operational vehicles, to enhance operational efficiency, and reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding national assets and critical infrastructure in Niger State.
