The high heat is on, blazing high-angle fire by burners from all cylinders; and it has hit the panic button with oral tension and anxiety, fever pitched, sent down the spinal canal, causing spinaches in the opposition political camps in Osun State just as the mega endorsement of Governor Gboyega Oyetola held sway, a solemn guarantee of his continuity in office and sustainability of his development agenda for the state.
The readings of the last Wednesday epoch endorsement, put together in Osogbo, state capital, by the Osun National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), pointedly show the Union’s informed trenchant understanding of democracy and electoral process _, sine quibus non_ going by the high literacy, logic, socio-political sagacity and awareness lavishly displayed by road transporters at the event.
The Union impliedly pitched its goodwill with the Osun electorate, Osun press, Osun pro-democracy and human right activists as well as international and domestic election monitors for a transparent free and fair governorship poll to usher Oyetola back on his seat come July, 2022.
The historicism of road transporters of time past might not be unprecedented in the recalcitrant bull in the Spanish arena that won’t want to go down without ‘charging.’ But the Union today, brandishes socio- political charity and all other ‘charities,’ eco- technology, inputted in them by re-training, re-orientation and re-sensitization as well as inter-organizational schemes, doctrines and strategies for societal well being, peace and progress.
In other words, the contemporary NURTW is saturated with intelligent and informed men, capable of demanding, accessing, processing and policing public information to make informed judgements like anyone in academia, technocracy, professional, commerce and industry if intelligence is the ability to learn or understand things, or to deal with new or difficult situations.
Consequently, the all-ramifying Osun NURTW’s adoption of Oyetola, marked by grave sedation and earnest sobriety is the implicit, explicit standard value judgement the Union attaches to the upcoming governorship poll in the state: the Union’s challenge to informed ‘duel’ with any political thugs planning to disrupt the Osun electoral space and its peace; informed call out to unguarded characters in the illicitly resistant business of obstinacy, impediment, inhibition, interference or obstruction to keep safe distance from any duplicity, untoward or willful tendency intent to stray the next gubernatorial election or make the state intractable, restive, recusant or ungovernable; and informed warning or caution from the Union to whoever or any coalition that may want to induce fear and undue compulsion to incite social dislocation at heels of governorship election.
Of course, yes. The standard values are a part of the social responsibility of a corporately responsible, responsive and resourceful NURTW. More than that. Okay, let’s have it. The Union’s standard value judgement is a check against the tyranny of electoral imposition and impostors in contra stance to popular electoral expressions at the poll. And the value judgment has cast an access, a niche for the Union in the trust of the Osun electorate.
Meaning, in programme analysis, democracy has brought out the better side of NURTW, the fulcrum or lever that last Wednesday publicly lifted Oyetola as a single electoral choice based on the value judgement of stakeholders who truly know what’s at stake in election space to assist voters rediscover their stakes in the Osun Governorship Project 2022.
The endorsement of Oyetola’s second term ambition by the Osun road transport workers was not like the one, put in place in the state sometimes ago that kept the people of Osun in animated suspense, got them adrift, sort of a hide-and-seek theatre that emitted, or cast a ball of accelerated uncertainly on the polity. How? Join on memory lane. The official opposition political party today, then as the governing party under the Okuku reactionary potentate, gathered at a make shift Alekuwodo place, Osogbo, party people from the party governing neighbour- states, an amorphous scenery for the event, a rigmarole that cracked the Osun electorate, not patched or revamped, and made easily susceptible to artless, rudderless manipulations by the party.
Make no mistake about the abounding endorsements, the open presentations of the stewardship public audit and reports on Oyetola by the different unions of workers, party members in the nine federal constituencies and other critical stakeholders state wide in the count down to the 2022 Osun Decides.
Don’t let the train pass you by. You will regret it. Phew! Let all the opposition governorship aspirants in the state resign to fate as hope of contesting to defeat Oyetola gets farther by the day. He’s the golden goose, generating the Osun transformational growth and development with ease to the state workers, and everyone else in the state.
Asymmetrically, symmetrically or both, Oyetola would only need the least campaign to do in the state to get back to his office as the shouts of his name ‘Oyetola’ sets the motor parks, streets, cornerways, crossways, markets, kings’ squares, work places, schools and worship centres, event rivets, shopping mulls, stadiums, banks, other cynosure or eye- catcher nubs in the state on fire with the love for his re-election. And you love it or hate it, his integrity has never been in doubt, explaining why there have been no dissenting voices, intra and inter, against him as a person and governor.
And no burden of whatever sentiments is hanging on Oyetola’s neck. He has not been passed off as a bigot of any sentiments or controversies to require him to work extra hard to convince the Osun electorate that he will not temper them with his own personal sentiments, if any. But such allegations by political adversaries who’re afraid of his sky rise popularity to earn him electoral victory tells anyone the abyss the mischief makers could descend to incite or sustain inordinate personal political interests.
But Oyetola has works in- progress to complete in Bola Ige House and his chances, not prone to any upsets. What his political adversaries don’t seem to know is that, he wears his good gentle looks on his shoulders like epaulettes, but the adroit flick of the man is both intellectual and political, expertly showing up his dexterity, deft, skill and ingenuity at dealing well with political, electoral sequences at rewardingly boiling point and in manner, representing the bravura or firmness of his tempered steel that makes conquest or victory for him, next governorship poll, a forgone conclusion. A walkover!
Not walk a tightrope!
Or victory at sea!
