In a notable political shift, Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Hussein has officially renounced his membership in The Osun Progressives (TOP), a faction led by Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola. This move has garnered significant praise from Hon. Olubunmi Ezekiel Obeisun, the immediate past chairman of Oriade Local Government Council.

Hon. Obeisun commended Senator Hussein for his decisive action, recognizing his extensive political career. Hussein served two terms in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007, representing the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency under the Alliance for Democracy. He later represented the Osun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015 as a Senator.

Senator Hussein, once a key figure in The Osun Progressives an unregistered faction that evolved into the Omoluabi group has now publicly renounced his affiliation with the group. He has pledged to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2026 elections.

In his statement, Senator Hussein expressed his respect for Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and committed to working towards the success of the APC. This strategic move is viewed as a step towards reinforcing party unity and enhancing its electoral prospects in the forthcoming elections.
