More stakeholders of the Igbo nation continue to react to the wanton burning and destruction of structures and facilities of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Nsu, Ehime Mbano Council Area of Imo State, which is currently being used as a CBT learning center for JAMB examinations.
The leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide, Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, while assessing the magnitude of the damage with his team, attributed this barbaric act to a communication gap between the leaders and the led.
Okpalaezeukwu stated that the state government has no intention whatsoever to use any part of the state as a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs). He described the havoc perpetrated by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums as a monumental loss that would require a significant sum of money to rebuild.

He said, “I believe that this senseless destruction and burning of structures, vehicles, and facilities by some faceless individuals was carried out as a result of a communication gap between the leaders and the led. I appeal to our youths to always remain calm and peaceful and to shun all forms of violence because the burnt facilities were procured and installed for their own good.”
He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma and the security agencies in the state for their joint efforts in protecting lives and property while urging the aggrieved youths in the area to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Youths, Hon. Eric Uwakwe, described the destruction as unfortunate and appealed to the indigenes of the area to avoid unnecessary confrontation and all forms of violence for the development of the region.
Our correspondent reports that the multi-million-naira structures, which were part of the TetFund 2019 Special Intervention, were razed to the ground, and vehicles and other facilities within the premises were similarly reduced to ruins.
