The Management of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has denied claims that the university is a base for the office of the Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
In a statement by the Registrar, Abiodun Okunniga, dated September 5, 2024, the university clarified that the office of the NANS Senate President is not located on their campus.
The Registrar added that the address cited in a related letter does not exist within the institution.

The university also disclaimed any involvement in the alleged planned nationwide protest, stating that its premises and address were falsely linked to the office of the NANS Senate President.
Additionally, the statement noted that students of the university are currently on break, having completed their academic year.
The institution called on the general public to disregard any statement associating it with the protest.
It is worth recalling that Okunomo, the NANS Senate President, had issued a press release after the federal government hiked the price of petrol, threatening to shut down the country if the price hike was not reversed.
“We unequivocally deny any endorsement or support for the purported shutdown scheduled for September 15, 2024 and hereby distance ourselves from Okunomo’s activities,” the statement read in part.
