The Honourable Member representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, has been inaugurated alongside 18 other lawmakers as members of the Ad-hoc Committee on the political developments in Rivers State. The inauguration was conducted by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D., at the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The committee was set up in response to the growing political tensions in Rivers State, with the mandate to investigate the root causes of the crisis and recommend steps toward a peaceful resolution. Speaker Abbas charged the committee to carry out its assignment with a deep sense of responsibility and patriotism.
The Ad-hoc Committee comprises notable and experienced lawmakers drawn from different geopolitical zones, reflecting a balanced national representation. Their collective task is to interface with key stakeholders and mediate in the ongoing political impasse that has threatened governance and stability in the state.
Prominent members of the committee include Rt. Hon. Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Rt. Hon. Ali Isa J.C, Rt. Hon. Isiaka Ibrahim, Rt. Hon. Idris Ahmed Wase, and Rep. Aliyu Muktar Betara. Others are Rep. Sada Soli, Rep. James Abiodun Faleke, Rep. Igariwey Iduma Enwo, and Rep. Shehu Saleh Rijau.
Also inaugurated were Rep. Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, Rep. Patrick Umoh, Rep. James Barka, Rep. Alex Egbona, Rep. Isa Anka, Rep. Amos Daniel, Rep. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, Rep. Onuh Onyeche Blessing, and Rep. Fatima Talba. These lawmakers are expected to bring their expertise and experience to bear in ensuring a credible and effective intervention.
Hon. Oluwole Oke’s inclusion in the committee has been widely applauded by his constituents and colleagues, who describe him as a seasoned lawmaker with a track record of service, integrity, and commitment to national unity. The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations to the House in due course.
