The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the state government for its commitment to the development of the education sector.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, the party emphasized the crucial role education plays in development, noting that its importance cannot be overstated.
Kalejaye specifically commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the recent approval of a N3.5 billion counterpart fund for the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), which will support the construction and renovation of public primary schools across the state.

The party praised the governor for taking concrete action towards rebuilding the sector rather than merely paying lip service.
Kalejaye described primary education as the foundation from which higher institutions draw quality students for further grooming.
“No doubt, primary education is the foundation; once it is solid, in terms of physical structures and teaching, higher institutions can be assured of quality harvest.”
He continued, “The long years of inadequate attention, particularly to primary schools, have nearly crippled the system. In many places, pupils are learning under dilapidated buildings.”
“This is why the timely and generous action of our Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is worthy of appreciation. One is convinced that this noble intention will be reciprocated at the appropriate time.”
The state chapter noted that the APC-led government has committed billions of naira in recent months to improve facilities in state-owned universities and colleges.
The party expressed optimism that the renovation of schools, along with the ongoing recruitment of teachers, will enhance learning and improve the quality of education at the primary level.
Commenting on the approval over the weekend, the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, explained that the approved counterpart fund would secure over N7 billion for the construction and renovation of public schools across the three senatorial districts of the state.
