Youths group under the auspices of Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) on Thursday, said three of its members remanded over a disagreement with the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo, Kayode Ajulo, have been released.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the OSYN Public Relations Officer (PRO) Christopher Olusa, who disclosed that the three youth leaders were released following the Court ruling which dismissed the application of their remand.

Olusa said the court granted the three youth leaders who include, Adediran Gabriel, Yaya Bisola, and Akeju Blessing James, dismissing the application for their remand*, describing it as lacking in merit.

The statement read: “The Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) is pleased to announce the release of detained youth leaders Adediran Gabriel, Yaya Bisola, and Akeju Blessing James of the Akoko Youth Forum following today’s court ruling which dismissed the application for their remand, describing it as lacking in merit.

“This marks a major victory in the ongoing struggle against political intimidation and institutional oppression in the state. We celebrate this judgment as a sign that justice, though delayed, is still possible when the people unite”

Olusa said “It would be recalled that these youths were earlier harassed, arrested and detained by security operatives acting on the orders of the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kayode Ajulo following an unpleasant encounter with the organization’s executive on March 28th, 2025.

“Despite initial public outrage and interventions by well-meaning individuals, they were remanded in custody.

“But yesterday, in response to this injustice, OSYN, the Akoko Youth Forum, NANS, and other student bodies peacefully protested, calling for their immediate release and vowing to resist further oppression.

“Reacting to the protest, the AG reportedly requested that the adjourned case, originally fixed for April 16, be brought forward to today, April 10th.

“We are glad to report that the court, after reviewing the facts and legal inconsistencies surrounding the case, threw out the remand application as baseless and without merit.

“This ruling affirms what we have always maintained that these young individuals committed no offense and were merely victims of a system desperate to silence vibrant voices.

“With their release on bail secured today, these comrades are now safely back in our midst, and our movement is stronger than ever.”

The Coordinator of OSYN, Comrade Ezekiel, Afe, also expressed gratitude to all those who stood by the tyouths during the struggle.

Afe said, “I want to thank members of OSYN, Akoko Youth Forum, NANS, and other student bodies for joining in this struggle. I also thank the state Deputy Governor who intervened last night and assured us of the release of our comrades today.

“This moment shows the power of unified youth advocacy, and we call on all stakeholders in Ondo State to always stand for truth and justice.

“Finally, the OSYN urges Barr. Kayode Ajulo, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, to reflect deeply on the use of his office. This latest episode should serve as a reminder that the instruments of law are not weapons of oppression.

” We call on all public office holders to channel their influence toward meaningful development and the fight against rising insecurity, not the suppression of youth voices.

” Our commitment remains firm towards the advocate, advance, and, if necessary, agitate for the full realization of youth potential in Ondo State”
