A socio-political group in Ondo State, The Progressives, has congratulated the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on his election as governor and charged him to consider those who worked for his re-election first in his impending appointments.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was victorious in the November 16th, 2024 governorship election in Ondo State, was told “to consider those who worked tirelessly and wholeheartedly for his emergence in the election for key, important and sensitive positions as he is preparing for his inauguration into office as governor for another term.”
Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Monday, president of The Progressives, Chief Kehinde Ogungbade, called on Governor Aiyedatiwa not to forget those he said were “major stakeholders who laboured day and night for his return to the Alagbaka Government House, before and during the election.
The Progressives through Ogungbade urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to “first of all consider those leaders and supporters who worked for the success of the election in the 18 local government areas of Ondo State for appointments before considering others.”
They pleaded with the governor “not to forget their sleepless nights, rigorous campaigns day and night, personal expenses, time, commitments and the other resources committed to his victory at the poll.“
According to Ogungade, some of the party and sundry supporters risked their lives to see that APC defeated other political parties in the election, saying the supporters mobilised voters in the nooks and crannies of the state.
They congratulated Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo State chapter of APC, saying their victorious outing at the governorship election was a pointer to the fact that unity, hard work, leadership and sense of purpose displayed by the APC and its leaders prior to the election is commendable.
