Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo state, the Chairman of Irekari Local Government Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Prince) Dennis Adekunle has revealed the commencement of the f house-to-house campaign to drum support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Adekunle, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen, said the house-to-house was aimed at canvassing support for Aiyedatiwa and also to educate and enlighten potential voters on the need to vote for Aiyedatiwa in the election.
The LCDA boss said the APC recognises the role of the grassroots in the election quest of Governor Aiyedatiwa, hence the imperative to carry the people and residents of the area along ahead of the election.
According to him, the exercise will help to inform the electorate about the achievements of Governor Aiyedatiwa and let them know what they should expect in the next four years if they support Aiyedatiwa in the election.
Adekunle said the team would continue to drum full support for the victory of Aiyedatiwa in the area, describing Aiyedatiwa as an architect of the new Ondo state, saying he has changed the face of the state within a short period.
He said the house-to-house campaign became necessary to let the people know that Aiyedatiwa is a listening leader, a very compassionate, kind-hearted, and caring governor whose administration has touched so many lives across the state.
He said “Since he assumed office in December 2023 as the executive governor of the state, he has made several strides which include, renovation of about 900 classrooms in public primary schools across the state and approval of N1.2b for the completion of the abandoned projects at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Okitipupa
The governor also directed all the contractors handling state road projects back to sites, while he also approved the rehabilitation of about 60km of rural roads, of which efforts are on to include that of Oba/Ikun/Afo/ Idoani and the flagged-off payment of N335m scholarship and bursaries for Ondo state students.
“The governor launched the state ICT Technical Working Group (TWG) to drive technology development, approved the payment of N2.3b pensions and gratuities areas to retirees and the recent appointment of 344 SA & SSA in all the wards across the state is to further testimony of his quest to bring governance closer to grassroots”.
While commending the governor for displaying a high level of uncommon ethos and leadership qualities for allowing LCDA to stay, the chairman said a vote for Aiyedatiwa is a vote for more rural transformation and development.
Some members of the party, while confirming that Irekari is a political stronghold of APC, testified to the recent employment of some youths by the Governor as one of his legendary achievements.
He, however, appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to passionately look into the Oba/Ikun/Afo/Idoani road, which has become a nightmare and death trap.
He said, “This road which is the only alternative route to Idoani, Idogun, and Imeri, has been cut off while Ipele/ Idoani/ Ishua road has been completely abandoned due to its dilapidating and terrible condition. We appeal to the governor to help give this road consideration”.
