Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will recapture power in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state.
Adeleke who stated this during the inauguration of the state campaign council of the PDP, said the people of the state would be the ultimate deciders of the November 16 governorship election,
While alluding to his victory in the Osun State governorship election where he defeated incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adeleke said the feat would be repeated in Ondo come November 2024.
The chairman of the National Campaign Council of PDP for the Ondo State election said the campaign team would soon put in mobilisation committee to map out strategies in preparation for the election.
Adeleke appealed to members of the party to move from house to house to woo the electorate to the side of the candidate of the party, Hon Agboola Ajayi, saying the winning template used in Osun State had been given to Ajayi, and he would win if he followed it.
Adeleke who identified PDP as the only progressive party in the country, said it might be a difficult task to defeat the incumbent but said the voice of the people will decide the forthcoming election in the state.
Odunlami governor said, “There should be no thuggery. We will base our campaign on issues. The people will decide. Go back to your constituencies and preach the gospel of PDP to the people.”
Adeleke said the PDP is set to find solution to the hardship in the country, biting that PDP remains the only party in Nigeria that has been wiping away tears from the faces of the common man.
He said the ruling APC operates like a cultist group with a retrogressive and parochial agenda, with no positive agenda for the people of the nation
He said the workings of the PDP government were opened to all and sundry in all the PDP States where the masses have always been the top priority of the government and stressed that the same thing would happen in Ondo State when PDP takes over Alagbaka as from Feb 2025.
He said “Before we came to government, they said we can not perform in Osun State, go back to the State now, what APC can not achieve in 12 years, we have achieved under one and half years which shows that we are more progressive than any other Party in Nigeria”
Adeleke expressed confidence that PDP in the state will emerge victorious in the coming election saying the party’s candidate is blessed with the ability, experience, and pedigree to perform beyond expectation.
He said, “All we need is commitment to our goal, pursue our goals selflessly, and victory shall be ours. I tell you Imole (light ) is here, and I am here to light my brother’s path to victory; I have told Governor Ayedatiwa that I am here in Ondo State to drive my party to victory and that Alagbaka is for PDP as from next year February.”
While speaking, Ajayi, appreciated the Chairman of the Campaign Council for coming over to take charge of the responsibility of leading the direction of the state Campaign Council.
He assured that Ondo PDP is determined more than ever before to take over Alagbaka from next year and that no stone would be left unturned to bring victory for the Party.
He thanked all members of the National Campaign Council for finding time to be of the essence at this period as we prepare to take over government in Ondo State.
Ajayi said the defection of some members of the party to rival APC will not affect the performance and victory of PDP in the next governorship election in the state, acknowledging that the buck stops at the table of the electorate once candidates have emerged.
