Relevant stakeholders have urged the Ondo governor, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to beam searchlight on some of his cabinet members, especially as the November governorship election approaches.

This is as they cautioned them against any act inimical to Aiyedatiwa governorship ambition.

The group noted with dismay and alleged non-release of the delay cum non-release of funds by the Ministry of Finance for the execution of the developmental projects.

It was stated that this development has pitched the Ministry against some cabinet members.

According to them, the alleged overbearing attitude of the head of the Ministry portends danger if the ambition of Mr. Governor is not put to check.

According to them, “not only were the cabinet members appointed by Mr Governor suffering in silence but a drive around the state and the state capital, Akure shows that sizeable number of contractors have left the sites because of the alleged high-handedness of the Ministry cum non release of funds for the execution of the projects as approved by the governor.

“Expectedly, those projects inherited from former Governor, late Rotimi Akeredolu and the ones initiated by the current Governor himself are not receiving due attention of the finance ministry despite that the State has funded over N200billion to fund projects and make life more abundant for the workers and masses of the State.

It was gathered that only a few days ago, the Ondo state House of Assembly summoned the leadership of the Ministry due to some of what the Assembly described as ‘unresolved’ state financial issues’.

“The governor is being compassionate to have retained some of his cabinet members after a series of complaints. As the executive governor of the state, he has the power to hire and fire.

“Many of the ongoing projects have stopped with other infrastructures suffering lack of funding from the government. A number of contractors have been given approval to access monies from the government to continue our projects but Ministry is really making things difficult for everyone,”

It be recalled that Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office after Rotimi Akeredolu’s departure and dissolved the cabinet, appointing new members, including Isaac, in March.

The governor’s decision to overhaul the governance structure was seen as a consolidation of power ahead of the election.

As the November election approaches, the tension within the Ondo State Government may escalate if the Finance Commissioner’s attitude persists.

The group warned that things may degenerate further if the Ministry continues to hinder governance.
