The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Donald Ojogo, has commended the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, describing them as “difficult steps but very necessary” for Nigeria to prosper.
Ojogo, who stated this in a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Oladeji Ebisemiju, noted that Nigerians would soon begin reaping the benefits of the sacrifices made due to Tinubu’s reforms.
He maintained that President Tinubu is actively working to lift many Nigerians out of poverty, adding that all the economic reforms will continue to enhance Nigeria’s growth potential.
According to the lawmaker, only a man of courage like President Tinubu could have embarked on such bold and ambitious reforms, saying the President is committed to making life easier for Nigerians by introducing policies and programs that are beneficial to all.

Ojogo, who acknowledged that every positively impactful change has some initial effects, described the development as a temporary setback that will eventually lead to fruitful results and national growth.
He said, “As lawmakers, especially in the House of Representatives, we are not unmindful of the short-term effects of these very necessary measures aimed at achieving economic prosperity and growth for Nigeria.
“Every country in dire need of economic redirection like ours cannot avoid the reforms that are currently ongoing. But like childbirth, the pains and whatever effects that accompany such reforms are temporary and will ultimately lead to positive results.
“No doubt, the effects are felt more by the governed; however, the end result is that as the people’s representatives, we have had to bear the heavier burden of the transferred impacts of the economic reforms, so we feel it in multiple ways.
“But we will not shy away from the responsibility of mitigating whatever effects these reforms have on the people because we are all in it together and there are many sacrifices we also make, simply for reasons that it shall be better tomorrow.
“As lawmakers, we have thoroughly examined the processes of these reforms and the preponderance of views is that they are not just necessary but desirable for the nation.
“Only a man of courage could have initiated such; and that is why, in cases where misconceptions are brought to the fore, those of us on the same page with this reform process provide convincing engagements.”
Meanwhile, in the spirit of the season and in line with his passion for giving, Ojogo has allocated N53.6 million to his constituents for the Yuletide period.
He said the disbursement of the funds, which commenced on Monday, December 23, is ongoing, with beneficiaries including disarmed ex-militants, political leaders across party lines, APC Ward Chairmen, Women Leaders, Youth Leaders, traditional rulers, and Youth Councils of clans across the Federal Constituency.
“This kind gesture is aimed at providing some succour to the people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency, who have consistently supported Ojogo’s endeavours.
“As a dedicated representative, he is committed to improving the lives of his constituents and promoting the well-being of his community.”
Ojogo urged everyone to celebrate the Yuletide season moderately, emphasising the importance of love, kindness, and generosity.
He expressed the belief that this festive period is an opportunity to come together, foster unity, and strengthen bonds within the riverine community.
“This is not the first demonstration of his commitment to his constituents. Previously, he has provided support through various initiatives, including gifts such as solar power lights, trailer-loads of rice, and empowerment of traders and artisans with tools and gadgets, in addition to various infrastructural projects he has facilitated.”
Expressing optimism, Ojogo said, “The days ahead are full of hope, and with renewed vigour, the expectations of the people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo will be met.
“As we reflect on the reasons for this venerable season, we must continue to thank God Almighty for His love, compassion, and mercy in spite of our human shortcomings and imperfections.
“Coming this far and stronger amid challenges could only have been God at work through your prayers and supplications to the Lord Jesus Christ.
“We are yet at our desired destination, but our collective resolve and resilience combine to give hope that it can only get better. And indeed, better and brighter days are ahead,” the federal lawmaker concluded.
