The Olukaro of Ikaro, Oba Asunbo Adebimpe, has called on old students’ associations to support government efforts in revitalizing decaying infrastructures in public secondary schools.

The monarch made this statement during a reunion of the 1983 set of Ikaro High School, emphasizing the importance of collective action from old students, communities, and other stakeholders to complement government initiatives in the education sector.

Oba Adebimpe highlighted that government alone cannot fund the development of education and that the involvement of alumni in infrastructural development and supporting indigent students can significantly contribute to improving the system and reducing the number of out-of-school children.

The monarch commended the 1983 set for their commitment to the school’s development and assured them of the community’s support in restoring the school to its former glory.

Prince Emmanuel Fagbola, President of the 1983 set, praised the alumni for their contributions and described the reunion as an opportunity for old students to assess and address the state of the school’s infrastructure.

He emphasized that the reunion was aimed at giving back to the school, recalling how the institution had shaped their lives.

The old students also honored Pastor Ola Akinbodewa, one of their former teachers, who praised their efforts and stressed the importance of maintaining ties with their alma mater.

He encouraged the alumni to inspire current students and support the school’s material needs to ensure its continued success.

Barrister Bade John, the legal adviser to the alumni, reaffirmed the group’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by both the school and its members, promoting a sense of community and mutual support.

Dr. Oluyede Olagbegi, one of the driving forces behind the reunion, expressed confidence in the group’s ability to create a lasting impact by leveraging media platforms to support the school’s development and alumni welfare.
