Chief Olusola Oke, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo, is confident that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will win the governorship election.
Oke, who spoke to newsmen after casting his vote on Saturday, cited the weakness of opposition parties and the APC’s strong presence in the state as reasons for Aiyedatiwa’s impending victory.
He also highlighted the peaceful conduct of the election, with voters exercising their rights without fear or intimidation.
He expressed hope that Aiyedatiwa would win the ongoing election, noting that the opposition parties were too weak to win.
“Election is peaceful everywhere. You can understand the joy of the people to come over and cast their votes in spite of the difficult terrain as a result of the waterside area.
“This time has been long waited for.
“The governorship candidate of the APC will win the election because it is very visible. Because the broom has swung very cleanly in our direction for victory.
“There is no credible opposition in the state and the governor came from an environment, where the people have long been yearning for good leadership.
“We will deliver the votes for him. I can assure you that the governor will win clean,” he said.
Oke, however, urged the people to also sustain the peace that was currently being experienced in the state, saying that the election had been going on smoothly.
