The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has installed a business guru, Chief Muraina Olashile Alexandra and his wife, Esther as the Agbakin Bashorun of Yoruba land and Yeye Agbakin Bashorun.
The installation was attended by crème de la crème of the society from both public and private sector.
The new chief, while addressing the press on Thursday at Oranmiyan Temple, said he was delighted with the honour though it did not come to him as a surprise since it had been foretold while those who know him consider it long overdue.
”I am happy with the warm reception I witnessed here in Ile-Ife and being honoured with the chieftaincy title Agbakin Bashorun of Yoruba land bestowed on me by His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi. It shows that Yoruba people place high value on their customs and traditions.
”I want to assure his Imperial Majesty that he will never regret giving me this historic title and I also promise to use everything within my power like Bashorun Ogunmola to defend Yoruba land. I appreciate everyone who, out of their busy schedule, still creates time to attend my installation ceremony,” he said.
The one week event started with traditional libation and seclusion at Oranmiyan Groove in Mopa area where new titled chief was told the rules that binds his new office.
Oba Ogunwusi handed over the defence sword to the new Agbakin Bashorun at a grand reception held at the Ojaja Resort in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
