Dr. Samson Adegoke, the Rector of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, cautioned students against falling prey to fraudsters posing as intermediaries on campus, especially for financial transactions. He delivered this warning during the matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session, where a total of 3,977 new students were officially welcomed into the institution’s National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs.

Dr. Adegoke emphasized the importance of students acquiring vocational skills through the school’s Vocational Center, underscoring the institution’s commitment to producing self-reliant graduates. He highlighted the availability of training opportunities at the center for various groups, including the unemployed, underemployed, retirees, and professionals seeking certification in diverse disciplines.

Addressing the newly admitted students, Dr. Adegoke urged them to uphold the reputation of the college by eschewing vices such as cultism and other behaviors detrimental to their academic journey. He stressed the college’s zero-tolerance policy towards actions that could tarnish its image, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to maintaining high academic standards.

Furthermore, Dr. Adegoke emphasized the significance of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Vocation Skills Acquisition, and Empowerment (CEVSAE), which plays a pivotal role in equipping students with practical skills essential for success in the workforce. He reiterated that graduation requirements include proficiency in a chosen vocation, both at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.

In closing, Dr. Adegoke implored the matriculating students to conduct themselves as exemplary ambassadors of the college, emphasizing that adherence to school regulations would ensure the continuity of an uninterrupted academic calendar.
