Osun State Polytechnic, located in Iree, has received accreditation for ten new courses from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). This development marks a significant expansion of the institution’s academic offerings across various faculties.
The Registrar of the institution, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede, announced that the newly accredited courses span across the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Management Studies.
In a statement issued by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Arc Ngbede Ogoh, on behalf of NBTE’s Executive Secretary, Professor Idris Bugaje, it was revealed that the accreditation followed a comprehensive resources inspection exercise conducted at the institution from February 7th to 10th, 2024. The approved courses will be available for enrollment starting from the 2023/2024 academic session.
The accredited courses at the National Diploma (ND) level include Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Water Resources Engineering Technology, Agricultural Technology, Geological Technology, Health Information Management, and Public Administration. At the Higher National Diploma (HND) level, courses such as Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology (with options in Farm Power and Machinery, Soil and Water, and Post-Harvest), as well as Science Laboratory Technology (Physics with Electronics Option), have been approved.
Expressing his appreciation for the accreditation, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, credited the success to the visionary leadership of the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. Alabi pledged to uphold the institution’s commitment to excellence and to ensure that it becomes a leader among polytechnics in Nigeria.
The Rector emphasized the institution’s dedication to producing graduates who are not only well-versed in science and technology but also equipped with the skills to be self-reliant and become employers of labor. He reiterated his determination to support the Governor’s vision of advancing technology education in the state through the polytechnic.
Mr. Alabi extended his gratitude to the Polytechnic Governing Council, led by Honourable Diran Ayanbeku, for their unwavering support throughout the accreditation process, ensuring its successful completion. He expressed confidence that the newly accredited courses would empower graduates of Osun State Polytechnic to excel in the competitive job market and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the state and beyond.
