At the 29th Matriculation Ceremony of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Rector Kehinde Alabi unveiled a bold vision for the institution’s future, pledging to reinstate a democratic student Union government while emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and responsible democratic unionism.
Addressing the gathering of NCE1, ND1, and HND1 students for the 2023/2024 Academic Session at the Education Trust Fund Hall (ETF), Rector Alabi expressed gratitude and highlighted the significance of the matriculation ceremony. He stressed the need for promoting responsible democratic unionism among students, envisioning a future characterized by dialogue and consultation, rather than violence and confrontation, to nurture a healthy relationship between leaders and students.
“As time goes on, efforts to restore democratic governance to the student union will resume,” declared Rector Alabi, affirming his commitment to ushering in an era of responsible democratic unionism. “I envision an era where dialogue replaces violence, cooperation supersedes confrontation, and consultation and communication become the watchwords in the relationship between leaders and the led.”
In addition to his pledge to restore the student union, Rector Alabi outlined plans to enhance academic facilities. He promised to revamp and upgrade classrooms, laboratories, and libraries to meet the evolving demands of the educational system. Furthermore, he committed to elevating the institution’s reputation by enhancing the quality of existing journals to meet international standards, positioning Osun State Polytechnic Iree as a center for serious academic pursuits.
The matriculation ceremony not only marked the formal induction of new students but also signaled a new era under Rector Alabi’s leadership, with promises of democratic reform and academic advancement shaping the institution’s future trajectory.
