The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osun has condemned the action of some party members who are alleged to have been engaged in the sale of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
This condemnation is coming on the heels of rumours of voter card sales at a polling unit in Ilesa.
The secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Osun State, Tosin Odeyemi, noted that the incident was a bad omen considering the level of the crisis being experienced as the July 16, gubernatorial election draws near.
While commending the state INEC for not covering the suspects, Odeyemi, who is the state chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), charged the police not to relent in their efforts of getting to the root of the matter.
According to the report by the Osun State Police Command, one Orji Desmond Nkenna, a corps member attached to the INEC office as an Ad-Hoc staff in charge of Voter Card distribution collected some PVCs on the orders of some individuals for financial transactions.
It was learnt that the police arrested the principal suspect, the INEC supervisor to the alleged corps member, Mrs Makanjuola Bilahu ‘f’ aged 58 years and Mr. Oluwatobi Ogini, to investigate the level of their involvement. Continue Reading
