Osun State Government has invited diaspora investors to an Industrial Investment Summit the State plans to host.
The event aims to offer interested investors a chance to explore opportunities in various sectors in the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Bunmi Jenyo at the National Black Business Conference held at Hilton Atlanta Hotel G.A, United States of America.
A statement by Sesan Adeleke, the media aide to Jenyo, quoting the commissioner further reads, “the summit is aimed at bringing together leading investors, industry experts, government officials and entrepreneurs to explore industrial investment opportunities across Osun State’s Five Key Pillars, Agriculture, Mining, ICT, Commerce & Tourism.
“The Osun State Government is Open Beyond Borders and Across Space for Industrial Investment revolution to all blacks in the Diaspora, Investors, Manufacturing Industries, World leaders in Business, Business Executives, Private and Corporate Investors, Tourists among others.”
He further said the summit will focus on identifying the strengths and weaknesses of those sectors and also serve as a platform for connecting stakeholders to facilitate investments in the state.
“Some of the objectives of the summit are, to set an agenda for accelerated industrial investment in Osun State, Nigeria, underpinned by sustainable and inclusive development, through focused discussions and deliberation, seeks to identify opportunities for transforming Osun State’s economy, with a particular emphasis on the role of agriculture, industrial advancement, manufacturing, tourism and capital investment and also focus on identifying opportunities and strength of the various sectors in the state to attract investors, as well as, providing a platform for discussion and agreement on actionable strategies for accelerating the pace of Industrialisation and economic growth in the state,” he said.
Jenyo also revealed that among many other initiatives, the state government is working on the Free Trade Zone initiative which aims to provide 1,000,000 jobs for people.
He said, “The Osun State Investment Summit 2024 will be a showcase of bankable opportunities and strategic matchmaking platform connecting stakeholders to Osun State Industrial ecosystem to facilitate partnerships and investments and economic growth in the State.
“The Government of Sen. Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is working on several Industrial initiatives which include the Free Trade Zone planned to provide over 1,000,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people, Establishment of Farm Produce Aggregation Centres with Cold and Dry Storage Facilities and Processing Units, Encouragement of Youths to key into Skills Upgrade and Entrepreneurship Development Training Programmes and Revival of Moribund Industries among others.”
