RE: ADOPTION OF SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE AS LOCAL CANDIDATE BY PDP CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS OF ILESA WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND
OUR STAND
Our attention has been drawn to the above captioned press release by members of The Pathfinder Group within the Ilesa West Local Government Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party claiming to have, ON BEHALF OF THE CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS OF PDP IN ILESA WEST LG CHAPTER, adopted one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP in Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke as their own candidate.
The stakeholders, leaders and all members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilesa West wish to let the general public be aware that this assertion did not emanate from them and neither did it also represent the interest of the people and members of critical stakeholders of the party in Ilesa West Local Government Chapter of the party.
In the light of this falsehood and an all time misleading misinformation, we therefore wish to reiterate and say as follow:
(1) that the purported adoption was solely for and on behalf of the Pathfinder Group, an interest group within the Peoples Democratic Party.
(2) that Pathfinder Group is not an official organ of the Peoples Democratic Party but an interest group that is openly supporting one of the six aspirants of the party, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.
(3) that we believe all members of the Pathfinder group have the right to choose whom they want and prefer to be the governorship candidate of the party to represent them and nobody is stopping them from doing what they think is best for them.
(3) that all the information contained in their release is purely that of Pathfinder Group and not an official information from either the critical stakeholders or the Ilesa West Local Government Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
(4) that the stakeholders, leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilesa West have, for the umpteenth time, disassociated and will continue to say that we will continue to disassociate ourselves from the unofficial declaration or adoption of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as candidate of the party until the governorship primary is conducted and a winner emerges as candidate before we can make a declaration of support for such candidate of the party.
(5) that we believe in the peace process being handled by the selected leaders of the party being led by our leader and former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola which also involves many leaders and all the six governorship aspirants of the party, including Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.
(6) that we see the recent attempts by the Pathfinder Group as another attempt to jeopardize, truncate and disrupt the ongoing peace process that our leaders are trying to use to bring sanity into the system.
(7) We are also of the opinion that the purported declaration of Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke or any aspirant for that matter, as the party’s candidate in the name of the PARTY instead of PATHFINDER GROUP’s name without waiting for the final decision of the leadership of the party at the State level is divisive, distracting, confusing and is tantamount to gross indiscipline and lack of respect for the constitution of the party on the part of those involved.
(8) In conclusion, we are therefore calling our leaders at both State and Zonal levels to call these perpetrators of disregard for the rule of law to order as their silence could mean consent and may end up causing confusion in the state.
Thank you.
