The lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mudashiru Lukman, donated multimillion empowerment materials sponsored by federal ministries to his constituents on Monday.

According to the lawmaker, the beneficiaries were drawn from each of the local governments on the basis of their personal and business needs.

He explained that an assessment preceded the distribution to determine what each person needed.

Witnessed by a mix of personalities from business, political and community groups, the event took place at Baptist Day School, Oke-Odo in the Iwo Local Government area, which is the headquarters of the constituency.

Dozens of motorcycles, freezers, grinding machines, textbooks and notebooks were given to beneficiaries, including women and youth, to make them self-reliant and enhance their existing informal business in the communities.

Speaking, Lukman said, “Our plan of action for the constituency is evolving and I am glad about what we are doing today; it is an integral part of our programmes and leadership ideas. This empowerment initiative is designed to make our people self-reliant to be able to build a local economy that will help everyone to earn sustainable income.

“With each person benefiting from this investment today, I am confident that more people are feeling the impact of the good reprise upon which we campaigned and got your mandate. Each category of empowerment materials has a philosophy. For textbooks and notebooks, I want every child to have a book to read and remain in school without worrying about the ability or otherwise of their parents to afford those books.”

The lawmaker appealed to community residents and groups not captured in the scheme, saying “this is the first phase of my empowerment programmes. Other phases are still in the works and as we approach a new year, we will liaise with relevant groups and stakeholders to expand our net by the time the second phase comes up next year.”

Peoples Democratic Party state chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi who was represented lauded the lawmaker for proactively complementing the efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke in making everyone feel the thrills of good governance, especially at the grassroots.

Representatives of the statement government, ranging from Commissioner for Education, Hon. Eluwole Sunday; Osun Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, Mr. MK Jimoh; Osun West PDP Senatorial Leader, Hon. Adesoye Oyetunde, were all in attendance.
