The member representing Ayediire-Iwo-Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mudashiru Lukman, distributed fertilizer to farmers in his constituency on Thursday as part of his plan to promote and support agriculture.
During the distribution of 600 bags of fertilizer to farmers in Isero, Olaoluwa Local Government, Hon. Lukman assured beneficiaries that this support is just the beginning, and he pledged to continue supporting farmers in his constituency.
He emphasized the importance of farming, stating that it is impossible to underestimate or neglect farming because no one can survive without food. He added that taking farming seriously could help prevent food scarcity and reduce food prices.
He said, “I give thanks to God that we are all alive to witness this event. When we were campaigning, I made the promise, now we are fulfilling it.
“Today, we are distributing 600 fertilizers but I want to assure you that this is just the beginning, our intervention in agriculture will not stop at this.
“We are doing this as part of our plan to promote and support Agriculture because it is impossible to underrate or neglect farming because no one can survive without food adding that if farming is taken serious, there will be no scarcity and food will not be expensive.
“As farmer, you are important to us and we will do everything in our possible best to support you, I want to assure you of that.”
The Vice Chairman House Committee on Human Rights thereafter advised beneficiaries not to sell the fertilizers they had gotten but make good use of it.
While calling for support to be able to do more, he commended the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for his recent purchase of tractors for the state as well as distributions of seedlings to farmers adding that it is the right step in the right direction.
“I want to advise you all to please make good use of these fertilizers so that it can serve the purpose we intended it to for.
“And please continue to support us so that we can also do more. We appreciate your support and we will always need it as driving force.
“I want to also commend our dear Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on his giant strides in the Agricultural Sector of this state, the purchase of tractors and distribution of seedlings is the right step in the right direction.
“By the time we put all these efforts here and there together, Osun will become a major contributor to the food market in Nigeria, Africa and even in the world”, he added.
Also present at the programme were Osun PDP Senatorial Leader, Hon Adesoye Oyetunde, Iwo PDP Party chairman, Alhaji Alidu Tiamiyu Adeoye, and other PDP stalwarts.
