In a heart-wrenching scene amidst the aftermath of the Karu market fire, a shop owner lamented, “Everything is gone. Over ₦20 million worth of goods, everything we rely on for our livelihoods, burnt to ashes.”
In an interview with Channelstv on Friday, June 28th, 2024, the owner was seen crying uncontrollably, hoping for federal government assistance.

She further said that is their source of income; this is where they feed their families, pay their rent, and educate their children.
She said, ”This is where we feed, This is where I pay my house rent, this is where I pay my children’s school fees, everything just go, i cannot help myself, I am in pain. I don’t know if the government can help us; let the government help us.”
Now, it’s all gone. I don’t know how we’ll recover. Can the government help us?”
Recall Tribune Online reported that fire engulfed a section of the Karu modern market in Abuja on Thursday evening, leaving the cause undetermined.
