The official announcement of the primary election result in Oyo South Senatorial District by the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been postponed, Nationnewslead reports.

It was gathered that the announcement of the election result was suspended due to overvoting.

Our correspondent recalls that the primary election, earlier billed to hold on Saturday, was postponed till Sunday due to some difficulties.

No fewer than nine aspirants purchased the APC nomination forms in the senatorial district.

Though journalists were not allowed to gain entrance to the main hall where the election took place, Nationnewslead gathered from sources at the main venue of the election that the official announcement of the election result was suspended due to overvoting.

It was gathered that the number of votes recorded was more than the number of accredited delegates.

Our correspondent gathered that five (5) delegates from each of the 99 electoral wards in the senatorial district making 495 delegates in total were to vote.

It was, however, gathered that only 477 delegates were accredited, with 18 absent, but the election result showed 575 votes, showing 98 excess votes.

Some of the aspirants, who later came to the venue around 9.pm when the counting of votes were being done, insisted that the election result should not be announced.

The result shows that Waheed Olajide secured 2 votes, Adegboyega Adegoke scored 53 votes, Kolapo Kola-Daisi scored 212 votes, Bimbo Adekanbi secured 98 votes, Rotimi Adeniyi scored 4 votes, Kola Balogun scored 93 votes, while Sarafadeen Alli scored 107 votes.

The total number of votes showed 575 as against 477 which is the total number of accredited delegates.

The official announcement of the election result was then suspended when it was glaring that the number of votes was more than the number of accredited delegates. Continue Reading
