Owo, Osi monarchs mourn Akeredolu

The Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, has described the demise of the Governor of Ondo State and an indigene of Owo Kingdom, Rotimi Akeredolu, as tragic, sad and painful.

The monarch, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media, Sam Adewale, said the death of Akeredolu, an illustrious son of Owo, was an irredeemable loss to the government, people of Ondo State, family and the entire Owo kingdom.

The monarch stated that, though death is inevitable as nobody can challenge God when its time comes, the death of Akeredolu was too many on the people of the town and the state.

Oba Ogunoye who commiserates with the family, friends, Owo kingdom and Government of Ondo State, prays for the repose of the soul of the Governor who had left an indelible footprint on the sands of time in legal profession and governance.

The Owo traditional ruler stated that the death of Aketi, as he was fondly called by his numerous admirers, is an unfortunate occurrence that  came to the entire kingdom as a rude shock and prays the Almighty God grant  eternal bliss to his precious soul.

In the same vein, the traditional ruler of Osi Kingdom, in Akure North local government area of the state, the Iresi of Osi Kingdom, Oba David Olajide Okunato, has described the death of Rotimi Akeredolu, as a collosal loss to the people of Ondo State and Yorubaland.

The monarch, who stated this in a statement signed by him, said Akeredolu, as the Ondo State Governor and Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum, dedicated his life to championing the cause of the region, especially the formation and operations of the Amotekun Security Network.

Oba Olajide noted that the late Governor would not be forgotten for making indelible marks in infrastructural development and the reformation of traditional institutions.

He said Akeredolu would also be sorely missed for his boldness, courage and fearless approach to national issues that affected the masses.

“Arakunrun Akeredolu will be remembered as a man who stood and defended Yorubaland when killer herdsmen constantly threatened the peace and safety of the people in the region.

” He led the formation of Amotekun Corps, and the Southwest zone is today one of the most peaceful regions in the country.”

“The people and chiefs of Osi Kingdom will not forget the fine legacies and giant strides that the late governor will be remembered for.

“We pray God to give his immediate family, the people and Government of Ondo State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We ask God also to repose his soul.”
