The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Ayodele Sonubi has brokered a truce between the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, and the Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland, Yunus Tella Olushina Ayilara.

Ayilara has been accused of alleged breach of Oath of Office for refusing to inform the palace before traveling out of base and appointing a surrogate without the approval of the palace.

This, according to the palace, runs foul of the oath and undertaking he signed on his assumption of office.

But Ayilara argued that he had not done anything wrong as the decision that he took formed part of the pending cases he had filed at the High Court on the subject matter.

The development was seen as capable of posing serious security threats in the ancient city, a development source said, informed the intervention of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police

The Nigerian Tribune was reliably informed that to forestall any breakdown of law and order, the Commissioner of Police invited the two parties to his office in Ibadan on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the parties tabled their grievances which included the alleged breach of Oath of Office, posting of offensive items on social media, and alleged alleged interference in the day-to-day running of the office of the Chief Imam among others.

It was also confirmed that other offensive developments cited included the filing of different cases in court and the resolution of the petition by members of Ayilara family against the Imam Agba.

The Commissioner, as reliably gathered, appealed to the two parties to sheath their sword, noting their position in Ogbomoso is vital to peace and development in the ancient city.

It was also gathered that Chief Imam Agba was asked to tender an unreserved apology to the Palace of Soun while the pending cases in the Court are to be withdrawn.
