THE Crowned Pillars Foundation for Young Leaders recently held its art exhibition at the National Musuem, Ibadan.
The exhibition targeted children and was aimed at helping beneficiaries discover their creative talents and reach their full potential.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, chairman of Crowned Pillars Foundation, Engr Temitope Ajayi, said the exhibition aims at bringing out children’s interests in paintings/art works, tye and dye and recycling.
Ajayi, who was represented by Tosin Davies Ajayi, said about 120 children will be empowered with creative skills, which can make them discover their hidden talents.
Ajayi appreciated the Tunde Odunlade Art Gallery, The Waste Museum and Adire Legacy for the support given to Crowned Pillars Foundation to be able to hold the exhibition.
While speaking, a renowned artist, Mr Oluwole Omofemi, who painted the late Queen Elizabeth and was invited to the Buckingham Palace by King Charles, charged participants to look inward and discover themselves, especially on what they want to do in future.
He said even if they want to go for the popular professions like medicine, law, engineering, among others, arts will make them to go a bit further by being creative.
“And if you want to go for arts, then don’t let anybody discourage you; you can become the person you want to if you are committed to a cause,” Omofemi said.
The CEO of Adire Legacy, Mr Victor Oyewole, said being skilled in tye and dye will definitely bring out one’s entrepreneurial spirit.
“Today, our tye and dye materials are in great demand all over the world and through that, you can generate foreign exchange for yourself and the country.
“The most important thing, therefore, is learning how to go about this, and once you master it, you can be creative coming up with different designs.”
The CEO of Waste Museum, Mrs Jumoke Olowookere, said when one looks around, there are wastes everywhere, “but these are money once you know how to recycle.
“You can change plastic bottles, nylons, tyres, just anything into items that people will pay you money for.
“I, therefore, want to commend Crowned Pillars Foundation for giving the younger ones this opportunity to develop themselves creatively.”
The participants, who are from different schools in Ibadan, after visiting the gallery of the museum, then went into the workshop where they learnt how to paint, create tye and dye on materials and how to create useful items from waste.
