Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, Engr. Akeem Olatunji and Abass Aleshinloye, have pledged their commitment to the development of the Oluyole local government area.

Olatunji is the council chairman, while Aleshinloye is the former chairman as well as the chairman of the Association of the Local Government of Nigeria, Oyo State.

The APC Chieftain paid an unscheduled visit to the chairman at the Council Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, to discuss the development of the area.

He commended the incumbent chairman for implementing laudable policies and programs and executing projects that have had direct positive impacts on grassroots development.

The Council boss, on the other hand, described Hon. Aleshinloye as a true progressive-minded politician with a passion for the development of Oluyole, as exemplified during his two terms in office.

Olatunji commended Hon. Aleshinloye for being on the good side of history in Oluyole and Oyo State as a whole by setting politics aside to visit him in his office at the local government secretariat, Idi-Ayunre.

The meeting, according to Olatunji, was the first of its kind since Hon. Aleshinloye left office in 2019, describing it as historic and a welcome development.

Olatunji disclosed that public commendation of his administration in Oluyole by a politician of Hon. Aleshinloye’s calibre, being one of the opposition leaders in the state, was a clear deviation from the old order of destructive criticism by opposition parties, noting that such display was commendable and should be encouraged as it deepens the culture of politics without bitterness.

Olatunji also stated that the meeting signalled cooperation between differing political divides on grassroots development in the interest of Oluyole local government while emphasising the importance of working together for the benefit of the grassroots populace.

The Council Chairman, who did not rule out a political collaboration with the other political interests towards moving Oluyole to an economically viable status, said, Governor Makinde’s unprecedented sectoral accomplishments have clearly demonstrated that people make political parties and not vice versa.

He assured that his administration will continue to emulate Governor Seyi Makinde’s inclusivity and open-door approach to governance in the state in order to encourage grassroots replication regardless of political affiliation and interest.

“Our local government thrives on inclusivity and collaboration, just as exemplified by the administration of our mentor and overall leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Today’s discussion is a step towards bridging gaps and ensuring that all voices in Oluyole local government are heard in our governance regardless of political affiliation.

“It is a great honour for me to receive my brother and a core progressive-minded politician, Hon. Abass Aleshinloye, one that the Oluyole local government is proud of for his passion and dedication to the course of the people.

“I look forward to many more of such visits, as it not only encourages us to do more and rededicate ourselves to service but also clearly indicates that we’re getting it right in terms of our promise to the good people of Oluyole local government,” Olatunji said.
