Dr. Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe, the former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections in Cross River State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her defection is the latest in a series of high-level political realignments in the state, Known for her strong political base in the southern senatorial district, Ambrose-Amawhe’s move is seen as a strategic repositioning ahead of future elections.

She had previously contested for the House of Representatives ticket for Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency under the PDP but later stepped up as running mate to Senator Sandy Onor during the 2023 governorship race.

On Sunday, she was formally received by Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, and his wife at the Government House.
The APC state chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eba, led her delegation alongside key party stakeholders.
Speaking to news men on Monday Emana had this to say , “I only went to greet His Excellency, the Governor and His Wife, Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu as a mark of respect and to formally inform them of my movement.
“The day of my formal and ceremonial movement to my New Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with thousands of my supporters and other big names will be made known soon.”
Her resignation from the PDP was dated March 28, 2025, and addressed to her ward chairman in Akpabuyo Local Government Area. Political watchers say her move could shift the PDP’s grassroots dynamics in the state.
