Permanent secretary pledges to prioritise staff welfare, training

The new Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, has assumed duties and promised to give priority attention to staff welfare and training to improve productivity.

 

Olusanya, made the commitment when he officially received handover notes from the outgone Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dunoma Umar Ahmed who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

A statement on Sunday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Omolara Esan, said the official handing-over ceremony took place in the Ministry in Abuja.

 

Esan in the statement quoted Olusanya as saying that he has heard good things about the staff of the Ministry and urged them to keep the good works up.

 

While noting that he would operate an open-door policy, the Permanent Secretary stressed that his office doors were opened to everyone for ideas to sustain the smooth running of the Ministry.

 

“I can assure you that staff welfare and training will be given a top priority for motivation and increased productivity,” he said.

 

While describing his predecessor as his mentor, Olusanya pointed out that

“his mentorship contributed to his appointment as a Permanent Secretary without knowing that he would be the one to succeed him in the Ministry.

 

The outgone Permanent Secretary Dunoma Umar Ahmed, earlier in his remark, urged staff of the Ministry to cooperate with the  new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Olubunmi Olusanya in order to achieve the mandates of the Ministry.

 

He described the Staff of the Ministry as being up and doing, intelligent and dedicated  to duties in the running of the affairs of the Ministry.

 

While stressing that the Staff’s commitment to work since he assumed duty in the Ministry was instrumental to his success recorded during his tenure of office, and pleaded with them to extend the same hands of fellowship to his successor.

 

Ahmed reiterated the interest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s  administration in the Youth, saying the President demonstrated this by appointing two vibrant youth as Ministers to champion the affairs of the Ministry in line with the renewed hope  agenda of the administration.

 

Harping on the commitments of the President to youth development and empowerment, Ahmed emphasised that the Ministry is strategic in nature for the purpose of its mandate of catering for the well-being of Nigerian youth.

 

“It’s a known fact that the Youth constitutes 75% of Nigerian population.

Youth are the economic strength of this country and it is today that usually determines tomorrow. For this purpose, we have to invest on them to make them economically viable,” he sated.

 

While giving the vote of thanks on behalf of the Ministry, Director, Legal Department thanked the outgone Permanent Secretary for the inputs he has made during his short  tenure  of office.

 

He assured the incoming Permanent Secretary of staff’s cooperation and wish him a successful tenure.
