Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State has donated N20 million to support two Anglican dioceses in Anambra State.

Obi who was presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general election visited the College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi, where he presented a cheque for N10 million to support the institution’s ongoing projects.

The Anglican Bishop of Amichi, Most Rev. Dr. Ephraim Ikeakor, praised Obi as a “special species of human being,” acknowledging his unwavering support for the diocese.

He highlighted Obi’s pivotal role in transforming the diocese’s hospital and schools from humble beginnings into thriving facilities.

Obi commended the diocese for its commitment to human development and called on governments to collaborate with organisations like the Church to improve society.

He promised to return with additional support in 2025, describing his visits as inspired by Bishop Ikeakor’s exemplary leadership.

Dr. Maria Maxwell, Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, expressed gratitude for Obi’s consistent generosity, emphasising how his contributions have positively impacted the institution’s growth.

At the Nnewi Diocese, Obi donated another N10 million to the ADON College of Health Technology for its ongoing projects.

He also visited the diocese’s rehabilitation center for individuals recovering from substance abuse and a school for children with special needs.

Obi encouraged residents at the rehabilitation center to embrace their recovery and reintegrate into society as productive individuals. He also pledged additional support for the school for children with special needs.

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev. Dr. Ndubisi Obi, expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing Obi as a man with “a good heart and a beautiful spirit.”

He commended Obi’s extraordinary commitment to education, the Church, and the less privileged.

Accompanying Mr. Obi on his visits, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna lauded his unparalleled acts of kindness and prayed for divine blessings on his humanitarian efforts.
