The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State have expressed opposing views on the recent minor cabinet reshuffle by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, which led to the suspension of four cabinet members.
The APC, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, asserted that the state government owes the people an explanation for the suspension of the four cabinet members, all from a specific geopolitical zone.
Bamaiyi suggested that the government’s silence on the matter fuels conspiracy theories and suspicions, particularly in the political arena, where tensions were high during the PDP’s recent contentious primary elections in that area.

“Circumstantial evidence suggests that the suspended public officers might be the first batch of casualties in the ongoing power struggle between the ‘cabal’ and former members of the National Assembly,” Bamaiyi stated.
In a swift response, the PDP, through a statement by its acting state publicity secretary, Alhaji Yaro Maireke, dismissed the APC’s call for an explanation as lacking political logic, describing it as “absolutely preposterous, baseless, and ridiculous.”
Maireke emphasized that Governor Mutfwang, as the Executive Governor of Plateau State, has the authority to discipline not only erring members of his cabinet but also any member of his political party and citizens who violate the state’s rules and regulations.
“We understand why the APC is ludicrously meddling in the internal affairs of the PDP and its government, even though they have no right to do so. They’re simply trying to score cheap political points, given the disintegration, disunity, and confusion within their own ranks,” Maireke noted.
He assured the people of Plateau State that Governor Mutfwang remains committed to their best interests and will do everything possible to protect and respect their rights and dignity.
