The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, arrested the impeached chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of the State, Mr Wale Adedayo.

Adedayo, it would be recalled had alleged that the Dapo Abiodun-led administration since 2021 had been tampering with LG funds from the federal government through the State.

The impeached chairman had earlier been arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Security Services, and later released.

This development, led to the impeachment of Adedayo by councillors of the local government on allegations of financial misappropriation.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Mrs Kafayat Adedayo, confirmed the arrest.

She explained that her husband was arrested by operatives from the Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, numbering about 10.

Mrs Adedayo said the Police officers informed that his arrest was based on a petition written against him by the State Government.

“They came on Monday afternoon in a Mitsubishi car to effect his arrest. About four of them were in uniform, while others were in mufti.

“The Police operatives said they were acting on instruction based on a petition filed against him by the State Government.

“He was accosted to Abeokuta by the Police,” said Mrs Adedayo.

When contacted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed Adedayo’s arrest.
