The police said it has arrested six persons in connection with the killing of a 400-level student at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt a fortnight ago.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this while giving an update on the case during a chat with our correspondent.
Omoni said the suspects were in custody and that they were giving useful information to the police.
This is as he insisted that a locally made pistol and some cartridges were found in the pubic region of the engineering student, Chimena Uzondu who was shot dead by a fellow undergraduate on the campus.
Recall that the deceased mother, Josephine Amaechi had faulted the police, saying her son was not a cultist and alleged that the gun was planted.
Omoni stated, “So far six persons have been arrested in connection with that incident. Some of them have made useful confessions regarding that incident and investigation is on.
“At the end of our investigations, we will take it up from there. For now, six persons have been arrested, including the prime suspect who shot the boy.
“We are saying that a locally made pistol and some cartridges were found in his pubic region while undressing him before he was taken to the mortuary.
“The pistol was found in his pubic region in the presence of his brother,” the police image maker added.
