Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects for the alleged offenses of kidnapping, culpable homicide, shopbreaking, and theft.
The suspects arrested, according to the Command PPRO, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement he made available to Journalists in Gombe on Frida,y, are Mubarak Hala,d u, 21 years of Demba L.G.A Adamawa st, a te, for alleged kidnapping while Jonathan James, 31 years old of Bagadaza Qtrs, Gombe was arrested for culpable homicide.
According to the PPRO, on 10/10/2024 at about 0730hrs, one Bello Haladu of Garin Sarki, Yamaltu Deba L.G.A, Gombe State came to Dadin Kowa Police station and reported.
He reported that on 09/10/2024 at about 1325hrs, one Mubarak Haladu of Unguwar Demba L.G.A, Adamawa state, who is his junior brother, called him on the phone that he had to kidnap his son, Haruma Bello, 7 years old, and demanded the sun N1,500,000 from him.
The PPRO said that the case was forwarded to the Anti-kidnapping section SCID for discrete investigation.
On 17/10/2024 at about 1000hrs, the suspect was arrested, upon interrogation he admitted to having committed the offence and that he also broke into about three shops in different areas and stole about Thirty mobile phones of different brands among which he removed and used one SIM Card to call his brother, the victim’s Father and demanded ransom.
However, on 18/10/2024, the victim was found dead and decaying in an uncompleted building in Dadin Kowa village; the suspect will soon be charged in court for prosecution.
Also, on 21/10/2024 at about 0215hrs, a distress call had it that on the same date at about 0135hrs, the above-mentioned suspect fatally stapped his Aunty, one Ramatu Musa, 65 years old, of the same address, with a sharp knife. As a result, she sustained a serious injury on her chest.
On receiving the information, the Patrol Team from Pantami Division led by ASP Girema Yahaya rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to Specialist Hospital, Gombe, for medical attention, where she was examined and certified dead on arrival by a Medical Doctor.
The scene of the crime was visited, and the suspect was arrested; a knife was recovered as an exhibit, and the suspect will soon be charged in court for prosecution.
