The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Idris Amedu, popularly known as Dogo.
The 25-year-old suspect is believed to have led several kidnappings in the Niger Delta region, including operations in which policemen were killed.
The police had previously declared Dogo wanted, and he was finally apprehended in Ahor Community near Benin City on September 20.
The arrest was made based on reliable intelligence received by detectives at the Egba Police Station.
The police have recovered various items from the suspect, including ATM cards, foreign identification, passport photographs, and more.
Dogo has denied involvement in the kidnappings, claiming he found a bag by the roadside and was on his way to a nearby police station to turn it over when he was arrested.
